Carole King started out as a successful songwriter, teaming up with then-husband Gerry Goffin in the Brill Building in New York, while composing hits for the Animals, the Drifters, the Shirelles and many more. Her first full-fledged album, "Tapestry," went on to sell over 11 million copies and helped launch the singer-songwriter movement of the 1970's.
