In 2007, the Kinks' Ray Davies was honored by the performing rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. with BMI's Icon award. The honor is presented to songwriters and artists who have made "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." Previous recipients have included Van Morrison and Steve Winwood.
