The Eye of the Acoustic Storm

Kinks

Each week, a different artist is spotlighted in “The Eye of The Acoustic Storm.” Hourly segments of “The Eye” feature the artist’s music along with bio information and sound bites.

The Kinks were one of the most influential groups to have come out of the British Invasion. Led by singer-songwriter Ray Davies, the band skewered British society with albums such as “The Village Green Preservation Society.” In 2007, the Kinks’ Ray Davies was honored by the performing rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. with BMI’s Icon award. The honor is presented to songwriters and artists who have made “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” Previous recipients have included Van Morrison and Steve Winwood.
